FEBRUARY 2008 CORONADO VISUAL AWARD

ROBERT CANADY 2207 NORTH 12TH STREET

IF YOU GO SLOW UP 12TH STREET.......... off on the east side between Monte Vista and the Circle on Oak you may have noticed a ever changing color pallet of beauty throughout the year. While the rains seem to bring the weeds and a battle to many of our yards, Robert Canady is watching his native wild flower seeds germinate and begin to" take over his life", to quote his lovely wife. I noticed them sitting on the porch one afternoon and thought that is the house that will be a great springtime nomination for the visual award, and there was consensus that this is the February Award. Robert begins each year with a order of seeds from www.interstatenurseries.com , weeds don't stand a chance of survival in the thick flowers that grow in random beds all over the front yard. When some die off there are more that are moving in to the blooming stages........says his wife.......this I think is the real talent and skill of this kind of perpetual gardening. Year round beauty. take a drive by this month and stop in and appreciate at a close up level and see the random beauty........if you are a walker pass by.......the strip between the sidewalk and the street brings that beauty to the sidewalk and the street.........Special thanks to Robert and his wife for caring about the Visual nature of the Coronado Neighborhood, in such a natural way.
